Summer
Holiday Training Schedule 2010
All KickFit venues will be
open during the school summer holidays in July and August. We realise that during this time it may be more of a challenge
to attend class on a regular basis. That's why we have developed several
strategies for parents and students over the last nineteen years. Unlike
many other activities martial arts training is all year round.
Each class practice improves
martial arts skill, fitness, confidence and focus. We do not recommend missing a large amount of classes as progress and interest will be affected.
Junior and Little Champion Students
All Venues: Super Summer
Series: weekly fun topic of martial arts skill designed to encourage and
reward our students for attending class.
All Venues: Catch-Up
Classes: for students going on holiday for several weeks. See your
instructor to work out a schedule to make-up any classes missed when away. A
tip or belt test will also be carried out, as required, to ensure the
student does not fall behind other classmates. We recommend seeing your
instructor in plenty of time to work out a convenient schedule.
Slough Venues:
additional morning classes every Monday & Thursday Starting from Monday 26 July for 6 weeks at KickFit HQ. This can replace the
regular evening class or be used as a catch-up lesson
Reading Venues: Private

Senior Coach - Instructor Team
The KickFit instructor team consists of 4 instructors: Richard Parks, Richard Howton, Sarah Davis, headed up by Ken Pankiewicz. There is also an assistant team of 4 volunteers. 2009 was a recorded breaking year as the team prepared 79 students for their Black Belt test. The test takes place over 3 days and students are required to show martial arts moves, self-defence skills and take part in a series of gym tests ending up with a timed 3-mile run. Within the group were two 8 year old students who had started at KickFit when they were 4 1/2 years old. It will typically take about 3 to 4 years to be ready for Black Belt testing

Community Sports Club
To some people, martial arts can have an image of fighting and injury. KickFit Martial Arts has worked hard to change this image and highlight the benefits of discipline, self-respect and physical fitness. Its community projects involve working with local schools, using martial arts skills to reinforce the habit of lifelong exercise and healthy nutrition. During School Sports Week, KickFit introduced James Elliman pupils from 2 year groups to martial arts skills and healthy eating 7 day challenge. In 2009, a new course aimed at Multi-Cultural week in schools allowed students to learn more about Japan using the discipline and focus shown by the Samurai as its theme. During November’s Anti-Bullying Week, over 600 pupils took part in assembly workshops. This year’s theme was "looking for the good in everyone" and challenged children to learn more about their fellow classmates and other children at their school.

Welcome Back to 2010!
It great to see our students and parents back in class. The instructor team and I are eager to help you achieve your martial arts and fitness goals. As you know, recent studies have shown that regular exercise helps to give you more energy and improves focus. As reports about obesity in the UK grow, here at KickFit we are dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle centred around: exercise, proper nutrition and enough rest.
As a student reaches the rank of Black Belt we focus on "martial arts for life". Put simply, this focuses on the long term benefits of regular exercise. We also understand the value of having fun and building-up a support network of training friends within the school. The Japanese call this "uki" or training partner. Someone who is there to help you get the best from each class. They also motivate you when you feel like missing class and praise you when you push yourself.
